Sir Justinian Isham, 4th Baronet

Sir Justinian Isham II (1658-1730) was the 4th Baronet of Lamport, and from 1685 until his death served four times as a Member of Parliament, ending as the Father of the House.
==Life==
Justinian Isham II was born on 11 August 1658 to Sir Justinian Isham, 2nd Baronet of Lamport, and his wife Vere Leigh, the daughter of Thomas Leigh, 1st Baron Leigh of Stoneleigh, Warwickshire. He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford, but did not take a degree. He was a student of law in 1677 at Lincoln's Inn and succeeded unexpectedly to the baronetcy of Lamport on 26 July 1681 with the sudden death of his brother Sir Thomas Isham from small pox.〔Brainard (1938), p. 62-63.〕 He was elected to parliament from 1685 to 1687, representing Northampton, but decided not to run for re-election when his term ended. He stood for election two years later 1689, and won a second term, but was defeated in 1690 when he tried for a third term. He ran again in 1694, this time being elected unopposed. He was still in office in 1698 when Northampton became Northamptonshire, and served continuously until his death. He died on 13 May 1730 at 72 years of age and was buried at Lamport next to his wife who had predeceased him by several years.〔Hayton, Cruickshanks and Handley (2002), v. 4, p. 472-476.〕 There is a painting of him attributed to Michael Dahl that hangs at Lamport Hall, together with another by Godfrey Kneller.
